Well I didn’t puke like everybody said I would. I actuall did quite well for my first race EVER. Thats right my first bike race ever!
Tires were low.
Fernie gave me some advice about the mudhole on the course
in-between sips of coors light.
First trip across the barriers ever!!
I made up some ground on a few people and then this happened.
I will do a write up on the stupidity that includes Surly’s choice for
a crankset. The chain not only fell off the inner ring it got
impossibly wrapped up around the posts that allow a third chainring
to be mounted this caused me to lose at least a minute to the field.
not that I would have had a chance in hell to win anyway but it
still sucked.
The first “Run-Up”
After dropping my chain and losing so much time I was able to
catch and drop a few guys in my category and most if not all of
the women and children. The website says I got last place but
I know I passed a few guys. Oh well it was fun and most of all
I was happy to finish all 4 laps.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThis was a great day, Zak did great for his first time. It was a blast to cheer him on and try to motivate him along the way. It was like I got to be the coach which was kinda fun I have to say, I can see why Zak still has fun when he rides with me coaching me along. Good job buddy.
It was fun. I cant wait to try my improveed bike setup. Single chainring, campy rear derailuer, carbon post. It should work well, or fail miserably, either way it will be fun.
