After the accident with my old road bike, I was compensated by the driver’s insurance company. I ordered a closeout 2007 Kestrel Evoke frame 56cm. It came in, I tried to have the headset installed but it just didn’t fit right. I ordered a new headset that will be in on the 11th. I assembled the bike and took it for a ride today. The stack height of the installed fork and headset is a little off, like 4 millimeters. When the new headset comes in Rubber Soul will install it.
Anyway, the bike rides great:

The 4cm gap between the lower steer tube cup and the fork crown race throws the steering stability off a little bit.
Its a little twitchy on the fast downhills but the new headset should fix that up.
I ordered the next size up frame 56cm from the old one 54cm. It feels a little big
but I think with a few more miles it will be just right. The 54cm frame sometimes
felt a little bit small.

No problems to report yet. Except my loss of form after being
off my bike for almost a month.
