Dear Bike Lane,
I miss you.

Anyway
Everyday is fixed gear day for me but I really enjoyed my ride in this morning. A few days ago, I took the old Continental Ultra 2000 tires (discontinued) off of my IRO commuter and installed the Vredenstein Fortezza’s I had on my road bike. I really liked those old Continentals, they were really old, had about a million miles on them and did not show any wear to speak of. The front 23c was a leftover from an old road bike build and the rear 25c came with some wheels I bought from a friend. Their date stamps read 2003 and 2004 respectively and the only problem I had was that the tires were badly sun-cracked. It’s a shame really because they are not made anymore and those tires were excellent on rough roads with hazards like glass and the like. The new versions are junk. So…. I will try the vredensteins until the rain comes in November. They have been great on my road bike, rolling very smoothly and wearing very well. I mounted a fresh set of the vredensteins on my new warranty replacement wheels that are waiting for my new Kestrel frame to show up. New stuff, old stuff, stuff that I love.

Last night I put my old truck back together.

I drove it home and it ran great. It hasnt run this well in years.
It needed some TLC, a Carburetor rebuild, a new windshield,
front brakes, oil change, and a new battery.

These came in the mail Wednesday :

They fit kinda tight, I’m trying to stretch them out……..

And one of my projects for today, A brand new laptop with a broken screen.
The new screen came in the mail yesterday so in it goes. This is a coworkers laptop.

Build pics of my new Kestrel to follow. Brandon is racing on monday and my brother and I are going to watch him.
Have a great 3 day weekend.
