Carlos Sastre has won the 2008 Tour De France. The title could not have gone to a more deserving man or a more deserving team. Sastre conquered all on the Alp D Huez and his team, CSC put on a team strategy clinic on the Alp D’ Huez. Sastre rode the time trial of his career to finish off Cadel Evans. He hung with the leaders for 2.5 weeks and then had the legs to finish the job.

My conclusions after the 2008 tour:

1. There will always be doping because there will always be desperate idiots in cycling.

2. Cadel Evans needs a new team. They just could’nt give him an ounce of help when he needed it.

3. Christian VandeVelde is awesome.

4. I’ve got my money on Andy Shleck for next year.

5. Sastre has paid his dues and he deserves it.

6. Evans is a choke artist. A very good cyclist but a choke artist.

7. CSC is a powerhouse FULL of talent that cannot be matched.

8. Shumacher must have been practicing his TT in the offseason.

9. That dude that ran off the road over the side of the road off the mountain gets the BAMF award.

10. The “road furniture” was the highlight of the race for me. That SL2 in 3 pieces was epic.

11. JV dropping the F-Bomb was classic. WHEN I see him in public I will remind him of it.

12. I enjoyed it. I will watch it forever regardless.

13. I’m going back in 5 years. I will camp and holler and wave my American flag at the top of Alp D Huez.

Until next year. Vive Le Tour!
