Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackLast weekend, May 10th to be more exact, Isaac and I did the Tour de Lincoln, I did the paltry 10 mile ride with my 50 year old aunt and 11 year old cousin. Isaac did the 40 mile ride with my 14 year old cousin and 53 year old uncle! I had fun, it was a ride not a race but it was my first bike event, I have done over 25 running type races but this was interesting. I reccomend this ride highly. Well organized, well stocked, and nicest volunteers ever! Long comment I know.
Man sounds like a lot of fun, did you guys take any pictures?
Hi Don, Zak, Here’s my story…
I haven’t been doing many long rides this year, there’s nothing specific that I’m training for. Just the “Watts, Humphrey’s, Old Millerton and back from the store” loop a few times.
You guys have inspired me to try and be better about riding to work, so thanks for that!
Tonight on the ride home however, I had my eye on some kids that were jay-walking on a busy street. They were watching the cars from both directions. I slowed a little and went wide to be safe, and yup, sure enough, right at the last second, one of them bolted right in front of me. I hit him pretty good. We called his mom who got there and yelled at him for not using the crosswalk. The bikeis fine and I took home a couple of scrapes and a sore wrist. Be careful out there.
The little ones CAN be quicker than you think!
Its good to hear that you are riding and that you are okay after that accident. Between people and vehicles us bikers have a lot to watch out for. Maybe you instilled a sense of bike respect in to him and he will learn to look both ways for cars and bikes
.
Good to hear about the rides and your safety, keep it up.
Hey are any of you guys doing the Climb to Kaiser its on June 28? It over 13,000 feet of climbing. The Millerton Metric might be the right one for me.
Maybe Zak and I can do that with you. I know Zak could do it…me on the other hand I don’t know if I will be able to but I will die trying. The closer it gets to the date the better Zak and I will know. If anyone else wants to do it they could join in to be like a bike4more gathering :). Riding is always better with friends.
