Whew what a place! I’ve been before but I am always blown away by how many mountain bike people can assemble in one place. This show held in Monterey CA is the largest outdoor cycling festival in the world including road races, circuit races on Laguna Seca, Singletrack, downhill, mountain bike touring, and BMX racing.
It was awesome! I took my full suspension mountain bike in order to partake in some of the trails and dirty biking activities.
Brandon brought his road bike to race. Brandon got beat up on pretty hard by some seriously underage and overtrained junior road racers from all over the country.
Here are some highlights of the trip:
THURSDAY
On the way, our bikes getting covered in bugs.

Brandon getting ready for his first race.

The starting line on the race track.

After Brandon started the 60 mile road race I started on my way up
to where the finish would be. I did some exploring on the way.
This is the famous”Corkscrew” at Laguna Seca.

On the way up to the hilltop finish I ran into (literally) a HUGE flock
of sheep! They eventually moved and let me through.

Brandon didn’t win but he did well.

We had to do a little “Shop Work” to the bikes in our hotel room. Mine
was squeeking badly and Brandon’s was knocking………

FRIDAY
Yeti had a huge booth full of some serious rocky mountain hardware.

Redline had a couple of nice fixed gears. They also introduced a fixed
gear womens version of their popular 925. Here at BikeCommuters

CINELLI, no need for an explanation……..

The start of Brandon’s circuit race on the track.

Some of these “Kids” in the 17-18 juniors race were running some
serious components like carbon tubular wheels and pro-tour level bikes.

Brandon led the first lap!!!!!!! Then finished somewhere in the middle.

On the way home, dirty, sunburned and ready to go home.

I would say that I cant wait until next year’s sea otter but I wont be here.
I will be in Colorado, the mountain biking capital of the world.
