So this Saturday I decided to wake up and ride. So I woke up and got out of the house at about 9am and away I went. I was expecting it to be a little chilly at the start, but Saturday was a beautiful day. So I tried to push it as much as I could trying to up my pace a couple notches. I wanted a good workout but mostly I just wanted to see if I could do it.
So I was moving at a nice comfortable speed, heading north towards Woodward Park and then from their out Friant. I was pedaling down Shepard and was almost to the park when this old lady flipped a u-turn and almost hit me. Luckily I had seen her coming moved further over and picked up the speed to try and get ahead of her. A little pissed off but okay, she proceeded to pass me. Unfortunately right as she passed me she merged over and stopped her car right in the road. I tried with all my might to stop or avoid her, but she was just to close so I just got the bike around enough to take it in the shoulder and not screw up my front wheel.
Needless to say I went from a little pissed off to extremely pissed off. She gets out of the car and the first thing she asks me is if I have seen her dog…..at this point if I saw her dog I would have punted it. I was like lady what the hell you just stopped in the middle of the road and hit me. She proceeds to ask me if the bike and I are okay which we were. Then immediately goes back to asking me if I have seen her dog. Which of course I had not seen and dog because as I said earlier I would have punted it. She says okay and jumps back in the car and takes off.
I was simply ah struck, I picked up the bike on my shoulder and walked across the street to the park. Sat there for about two minutes then got back on the bike and kept going. Which the rest of the ride was very enjoyable the other riders I met were very pleasant and a few rode with me for a bit to chat. All and all it was a great day of riding I got in 26 miles on that ride which made me very happy.
So be safe out there and keep on riding.
