Last night while exploring the internet I came upon a handy pdf file. It is the 2007 Fresno/Clovis Bike Path map, it shows multipurpose lanes, bike lanes, planned trails, bike routes, railroad tracks(??? I really don’t know what railroad tracks are about), and hospitals(I guess they think we get hurt a lot while cycling).
I thought that this might be a great tool for all you local bike commuters to help you pick routes that maybe safer for your commutes or just for general riding. I added a link to the document to the “Useful Links” widget on the left side but here is the link for it as well. Fresno/Clovis Bike Routes

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackWow, I was thinking about mentioning that map to you last night but I couldn’t find it - the old link to it I had no longer works. Good job finding a new link to it. I also found it once in a bike shop printed on nice waterproof paper for free.
One strange thing I’ve found is that some of those roads show a bike lane for a while and then a “Bike Route.” Some of those places are the worst to ride, but they put up a sign that says bike route because it might eventually connect to another bike lane. Often, a nearby parallel road might actually be much better to ride even though it doesn’t look as good on that map (because it is a wide road with little traffic, although no striped bike lane). But at least the map is a good place to start.
I agree some of the signs that they up are rather confusing. Why can’t we just have bike lanes everywhere :). Also whats up with the railroad tracks and the hospitals being on the map lol.
Those bike paths are nice but they can also be a problem if people do not use them correctly.
Remember when i was going way to fast near that tunnel and crashed while avoiding that group of people taking up the whole path coming the other way? My scars and old ultegra shifters remember….
Yeah that was pretty nasty, your side was all swelled up with blood. Oh man you almost looked part zombie, but happily you are still with us.
